Your AI workspace. Your FileMaker context.

Use Genie’s Local MCP to give Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client a live line into the FileMaker file open on your computer.

Read and understand

Free: your agent can inspect the session, search, read scripts, layouts and fields, and run read-only queries. Start with a question about the current file or one script.

Create and execute

Paid: your agent can write code, stage changes and run them in FileMaker. Changes wait for your confirmation unless Auto apply is on. Your access privileges and Privacy settings still apply.

Watch Claude build in FileMaker.

Claude reads the file through Genie’s Local MCP, finds what’s broken, then adds the estimate scripts, layouts and navigation. A real session, shortened to 30 seconds.

Connect from the computer running FileMaker.

  1. Install Genie and open the intended FileMaker file.
  2. Open Settings → Local MCP and enable the bridge.
  3. Copy the client configuration Genie generates into your AI client. Keep its token private.
  4. Reconnect the client and ask one read-only question to confirm it works.
Connection guide

Start from the configuration Genie gives you.

Each client sets up MCP a little differently, so use what Genie generates and test a read before any write. Local MCP runs on your computer, so a cloud-hosted agent can’t reach it on its own.

Start with a read-only request.

Inspect the current FileMaker file. Find the script named “Save Customer” and explain its error handling without changing anything.

Use a real script name from your solution. Once the answer names the right file and script, ask for the change.

Control the scope

Local MCP has its own Privacy setting, separate from chat. Use it with Metadata Explorer to limit what your agent can read.
