Genie for Windows: FileMaker AI on Both Platforms

Genie is now available on Windows.

Windows developers can now use Genie directly inside FileMaker Pro. Genie works with the FileMaker system you already have, brings relevant context into the conversation, and keeps meaningful changes visible for review.

Why the Windows release matters

FileMaker teams rarely live on one operating system forever. A developer may build on a Mac while another teammate supports the same solution on Windows. A consultancy may inherit mixed client environments. An internal team may need Genie on whichever machine already owns the day-to-day FileMaker workflow.

Windows support means those teams no longer need a separate platform just to bring Genie into FileMaker.

It also keeps the product model simple:

• Genie works with the FileMaker solution you already use.
• You choose the model or compatible local endpoint.
• Genie gathers task-relevant FileMaker context.
• Generated work is prepared for review.
• You decide when the final FileMaker action happens.

Choose the download for your computer

Genie provides separate downloads for macOS and Windows:

• Choose Download for Mac when you use FileMaker Pro on macOS.
• Choose Download for Windows when you use FileMaker Pro on Windows.

Each download is maintained separately, so adding Windows support does not change the existing Mac installation or update experience.

Installing Genie on Windows

The Windows installation is intentionally straightforward:

1. Download the Genie package for Windows.
2. Quit FileMaker Pro.
3. Extract the ZIP.
4. Place GenieWindows.fmx64 in the Extensions folder used by your FileMaker Pro installation.
5. Reopen FileMaker Pro and confirm that Genie is enabled in FileMaker’s plugin preferences.

Review remains the boundary

The operating system changes. The safety model does not.

Genie is designed around visible context and deliberate actions. It can help explain FileMaker systems, inspect relevant structure, prepare scripts and calculations, work with supported data and layout workflows, and connect compatible AI clients through its FileMaker-aware tooling. The result still comes back through a review surface rather than becoming an invisible edit to a production file.

That review-first approach is especially important when a team works across platforms. The goal is not simply to make an AI button available on another operating system. The goal is to preserve a dependable FileMaker development workflow wherever the work happens.
